Cisco Certification program is now available! What impact will these changes have on your Cisco journey?
Why has the software been altered?
The prior program no longer met the needs of digital networking. To construct, deploy, and govern the networks of the future, you will require a variety of talents as a network engineer or software developer.
What has altered?
The Associate Level certifications have been merged and upgraded into three:
CCNA
Because a breadth of skills is required when first entering networking, Cisco Certification has consolidated the CCNA program into a single, comprehensive exam (200-301 CCNA) that covers entry-level networking skills across technologies, such as basic IP fundamentals, network access, IP connectivity, and the basics of automation and network programmability, as well as fundamental security skills.
Associate at DevNet
Obtaining the Cisco Certified DevNet Associate credential validates your ability to develop and manage applications built on Cisco systems. You must pass one exam to get DevNet Associate certification. This exam covers the fundamentals of software development and design for Cisco platforms.
Associate in CyberOps
The CyberOps certification prepares individuals to work in security operations centers with associate-level cybersecurity analysts. To obtain Cisco Certification, you must pass one exam (200-201 CBROPS)
2. The Professional Level credentials are being upgraded and merged into seven certifications:
Professional certification requires passing two exams: one core exam and one concentration exam. A core exam tests your essential information, whereas a concentration exam tests your in-depth and specialized Knowledge.
New Professional-level certifications:
- Professional CyberOps DevNet Professional CCNP Enterprise CCNP Collaboration
- Data Center CCNP
- CCNP Service Provider CCNP Security
There are no formal prerequisites for obtaining the CCNP or CCIE certifications.
A CCNA certification will no longer be required to earn a CCNP certification. A CCNP certification will no longer be required to earn a CCIE certification.
Of course, before taking the exam, a thorough comprehension of the exam topics is required.
Cisco certifications are only valid for three years
Specialist and CCIE certificates remain valid for another two years. However, all Cisco certifications are now valid for three years. You can recertify not only by passing the relevant tests but also by demonstrating that you will continue to expand your expertise by earning Continuing Education credits. For example, attending Cisco Live events, Cisco training courses, or passing examinations can all earn you credits.
Written tests are no longer valid
All CCIE written tests have an expiration date. To earn a CCIE certification, you must pass a comparable core exam and a lab exam. A written exam and a practical exam are still require for CCDE certification.
What happens to my current certifications?
For CCNA, Specialist, and CCNP certifications:
Your current certification is valid and will remain in effect until it expires.
For the CCIE
Your suspend year will be convert to an active year if you are an active CCIE. For example, if your active CCIE was suspend on April 21, 2020, you will retain active status until April 21, 2021.
Policy revision on recertification
Certified personnel, including CCNA Training and Cisco Certified Specialist, CCNP, and CCIE, will be able to recertify beginning February 24, 2020, by taking examinations, earning Continuing Education credits, or a combination of the two. Attending Cisco Live training events, producing content, completing online training courses, completing instructor-led training courses, and other activities are examples of continuing education activities.
