How to draw SpongeBob characters
Step 1:
As we mentioned at the beginning of this guide on drawing SpongeBob characters, we will represent four characters from the series. The first of these characters we’ll draw is the snarling Squidward. The top of its head is rounded and drawn with a smooth line.
Next, draw two oval shapes for her eyes and make her eyelids halfway. He then has a large rounded nose that descends from his eyes. Squidward is a character famous for his bad temper, but we’ll show him a smile in this particular picture. Once the head is drawn, we’ll continue with step two to draw more Squidward.
Step 2:
You’ve completed Squidward’s head for this SpongeBob character drawing, and in the next step, we’ll draw the rest of his body. Use simple curved lines to draw his shirt with his hands on his waist.
As you can see in our reference image, the right arm will have open space as another character will be standing in front of it. Finally, draw its four squid legs, then we can move on to the third step of the guide.
Step 3:
We’re done with Squidward for now, and in this step of our guide on how to draw SpongeBob characters, we’ll focus on the man himself: SpongeBob SquarePants. He has oval eyes with his long, thin, rounded nose sticking out of them. Next, we’ll use curved lines for his smiling mouth, and you can also draw his square teeth protruding downwards.
Finish the bottom outline of his open mouth; then, we’ll draw his body. Its body will be drawn using a wavy line to make it look like it is made of a squishy substance. Finish by pulling his arm dangling to the left while the other rises triumphantly.
Step 4:
Continuing this drawing of the SpongeBob character, we will finish drawing SpongeBob while adding some more details for Squidward.
First, use a few straight lines for the outlines of his pants, then add his shirt collar along with his belt details. Finish this step by drawing skinny legs for SpongeBob, then draw circles at the base of Squidward’s feet before moving on to step 5.
Step 5:
We’ll start by adding the last two characters in this step of our guide on how to draw SpongeBob characters. First, we’ll draw SpongeBob’s beloved pet snail, Gary. You can use two circles for his eyes and then draw thin stems coming down from them.
Then use large rounded lines for its shell and add a twist pattern. You can then finish off Gary by drawing a wavy line for the base of his body. Finally, you can draw the swimsuit that starfish Patrick is wearing and draw the iconic flower pattern. We can then finish Patrick with all the other final details in the next step of the guide.
Step 6:
This part of the SpongeBob SquarePants Character Drawing will help you complete the outlines and details of SpongeBob’s best friend, Patrick. First, use more oval shapes for her eyes. Then, use curved lines to draw his pointed head and equally pointed arms upwards.
Next, we’ll use rounded lines for her belly over her swimsuit. Once you’ve drawn those outlines and final details, you can finish with your final details! You can draw a background that incorporates one of the famous locations from the series or maybe even adds a few additional characters. What kind of additional details and additions can you think of adding?
Step 7:
You are now ready to finish this image with some color in this. In our example image, we went with your standard color characters. Squidward has soft skin with a brown shirt, while SpongeBob is brilliant yellow with brown pants and a red tie.
